My credentials
I qualified as a midwife in 2004 and worked on delivery suite, the antenatal/postnatal ward, the transitional care ward and in the community supporting home births. In 2013 I did a further year of training to become a Health Visitor. I have worked in the community ever since. I worked for NHS/public health commissioned services running a specialist breastfeeding service for 5 years. In 2020 I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). This qualification is the highest qualification in lactation and infant feeding. It requires 1000+ hours spent observing babies feeding and understanding the mother-infant relationship, 90 hours of additional study and a 4 hour hour exam. Two boys call me mum and I have breastfed. I am absolutely committed to helping parents through the hard times and protecting breastfeeding relationships.
I am insured, registered with the NMC and Lactation consultants of Great Britain. I also continue to work in public services as a Health Visitor.
